With heartfelt gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the legacy of Annie L. Barry affectionately known as “Ann,” who was surrounded by love as she peacefully transitioned from her earthly life to her heavenly home on January 7, 2026.

Ann was born on March 15, 1953, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Verna Williams. She was the eldest of five children and a proud graduate of Isaac Litton High School, Class of 1971.

A woman of strong faith, Ann, loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Watson Grove Baptist Church for over 20 years, where she faithfully served until her health began to fail.

Ann began her professional career at Carl’s Shoe Store. She later joined United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, where she worked in the Finance Department. Through her work, Ann helped to facilitate back to school drives and other community events within the organization until her retirement in 2020.

Ann was truly a fashionista at heart. She had a love for shopping, visiting casinos, and traveling with loved ones. She especially enjoyed playing cards – don’t tempt her with a good game of spades. She was well known for her lively spirit and trash talk around the table.

Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Verna Williams, and her brother, James “Bubba” Davis.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Lloyd Barry; devoted daughter, Nicole (CJ) Anthony; daughter, Lisa Davis; son, Corey Barksdale; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ayanna, Chauncey, and Ariel Anthony, and Khadari and Nora Barksdale. She is also survived by her devoted sister, May Davis; sisters, Linda Williams, and Gloria Wilkerson; mother-in-law, Theo Barry; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Barry and LaDevia Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ann will be remembered for her faith, her style, her generosity, and the joy she brought to all who knew and loved her.
