Barbara Ann Corley was born on July 11, 1942 in Smartt, Tennessee. Barbara and her family moved to McMinnville Tennessee when she was a baby. She was the youngest of three children of Rev. Herman Corley Sr. and Valli Corley. She devoted her life to God at an early age. She was baptized in the river as a young child. Her father was a Senior Pastor at his own church.
Barbara graduated from Benard H. S. where she was an athlete. She was a member of her softball and basketball teams. Barbara was very social and well liked at school. After graduation, Barbara attended Tennessee State University to major in a Nursing Program. There she met her future husband Val Patillo, fell in love and got married in 12/18/1964, and had three beautiful children.
Barbara Joined Spruce Street Baptist Church not long after moving to Nashville, TN. She was a member of the Vareda Williams Missionary Circle. Barbara serviced her community by being a licensed nurse technician. She served at various hospitals in Nashville as well as a private nurse technician. Barbara opened up her own business Bright Star Home Health Care back in 2000 where she enjoyed servicing others. Barbara was a motivator, a very hard worker and an active woman of God.
Barbara Corley Patillo was called to glory on Friday March 24, 2023. She was truly a woman of God. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Herman & Valli Corley. Left to cherish her memory is her brother Herman Corley Jr. and her sister Mrs. Rebecca Shropshire. Three children and two son in laws Val Patillo Jr., Mrs. Denise (Dezerick) Frazier, and Mrs. Veronica (Reginald) Perry. Four grandchildren Alrenzo Pullen, Tyvarius Patillo, Dezerick A. Frazier, and Olivia Frazier. Two great grand children, extended family and friends.
