Bettie Hendricks

Bettie Jean Duncan Hendricks was born May 10, 1937 in Sumner County, TN, the second child of the late Fred and Lucille Duncan. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Hubert, Robert, and Willie Douglass (Doug) Duncan.

Bettie was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Portland, TN. After moving to Nashville, TN, she attended Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church for several years. She was educated in the Sumner County Public School System.

Bettie was an employee of May Hosiery Mills, Genesco and Tennessee Wholesale Drugs, from where she retired in 2005. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, cooking, sewing, and playing cards.

Bettie leaves to cherish her memory a son, Larry Douglass Duncan of Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren, Larry Jr., Tampa, FL, Austin and Kayla, Grand Forks, ND; three great-grandchildren, Keiyanna, Camren, and Jonathan; two devoted sisters, Shirley Peters and Florence Woods, and one brother, James Eugene (Gene) Duncan, Nashville, TN; two stepdaughters, Paula Dotson and Reba Drennon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; a devoted caregiver, Angela Williams.
