Billie William White, was born to Pruttie Bramlett and Ernest Nelson White Sr. on February 23, 1931, in Giles County, Pulaski, TN. He was the youngest of twelve children. He often referred to himself with a smile as the seventh son of the seventh son.
Billie’s father passed away early in his life leaving him to quit school at the eighth-grade level to help support the family financially. Through his determination and imagination, he became a certified automotive mechanic and a large engine repairman. As a young adult at the age of twenty-one, he married, started a family, and joined the Air Force. After serving 4 years in the Air Force, which included a deployment to South Korea, he obtained local employment at the Wurzburg Brothers Trucking Company as an intrastate Truck Driver for several years . Always striving to do better for his family he accepted a job at the Nashville Ford Glass plant in early 1970 as a glass cutter and polisher. He retired from Ford after 30 plus years of employment. Through the years he helped raise four children. His strong belief in education, discipline and striving for excellence inspired & motivated his children to become who they are today, one an Accountant, one a retired Software Analyst, one a Civil Engineer and one an Aerospace Engineer.
Billie for several years was an active member of the Elks Lodge # 1102 Fraternal Organization, located on Jefferson Street. In the early to middle years of his life he worked in his community supporting and assisting in the start of public-school integration, urban renewal, and as a participate in the United Auto Workers organized struggle for better jobs and inclusion in the workforce. Billie joined the Christian Church family later in life and worked tirelessly as a Church Usher and Security team member until his recent decline in health.
We tell you now our beloved, although your bright smile and uncompromising attitude will be greatly missed, you now have earned your rest, thou good and faithful servant.
Billie is proceeded in death by his mother, father and eleven brothers and sisters and son-in-Law. He leaves to mourn his passing, Two sons Michael (Deborah) White (GA), Phillip White (GA), Two daughters Claudia White (GA.) and Rega Gross (TN). Three grandchildren Henry (Natalie) Nicholes III (DC), Jeremy (Monica) Rose (AK) and Joshua Nicholes (TN). Great grandchildren, Alleana, Ezra, Henry IV, Jeremy Jr, Odin. Devoted, nieces, and nephews Mildred Tyler (TN), Joan Warsaw (AL), Tiera Bass (TN), Sean Bass (TN), and Pastor Alvin White (TN), a host of grand nieces and nephews as well as an extended family in the Nashville & Pulaski area.
