Charles A. &Quot;Crow&Quot; Brooks

January 1, 1946 — March 6, 2021

Charles Alvin Brooks, aka Crow, was born January 1, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is the second of three sons born to Alma L. Brooks. After a courageous 5-years battle with lung cancer, Charles transitioned peacefully at home on March 6, 2021 with his family present.
Charles accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was baptized again at The Temple Church by Pastor Michael Lee Graves. He said he understood he was accepting Jesus Christ as his savior. Charles received his education in the Nashville Davidson County Public school system. He attended Haynes High School where he enjoyed playing basketball.

Charles married Brenda Matthews on July 31, 1968. Their young love relationship created two sons. Charles was a loving and committed husband and father. He was always blessed to be working. Throughout his career, he was employed by Alladin, Industries, AVCO Aerostructures, E.I Dupont Corp., Pirelli Armstrong Tire Corp. and Sysco Nashville where he retired from in 2010.

At age 11, Charles caddied at Belle Meade County Club along with his, brother William and friends William Haymer and Kenneth Fleming. He said when he picked up the golf club and started to hit the ball, that was the start of his love for golf. Charles became known as one of the top state amateur golfer’s for some years. Charles wanted to qualify for the senior tour and his friends held a fund raiser to help with the cost of entering the Q school and other expenses. That meant a lot to him. His family and friends are proud of his legacy. God knows best, but we will miss you with all our heart.

He is preceded in death by stepfather Roy B. Stinson, brother William L. Brooks, Sr., aunt Bessie Ewin, and uncle James C. Brooks.
