William D. “Bill” Mason, Sr., age 80, of Nashville, Tennessee, answered God’s call and entered eternal rest at home on Monday, June 16, 2025. A proud Marine, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and man of deep faith, Bill leaves a legacy rooted in love, service, and unwavering dedication to the people and places he held dear. Bill was born on May 15, 1945, to Celia Mai Hall. Following her passing, he was blessed to have Mr. Howard Mason, Sr. (deceased) and Mrs. Thelma McMurry Mason (deceased), as his parents. They nurtured and guided him through life with strong values and enduring faith. He loved God, Family, The Temple Church, Cameron High School, and the United States Marine Corps— in that order. His words and actions were often full of humor, wisdom, and the kind of wit that made everyone smile. Bill and his wife, Carolyn, enjoyed many wonderful and loving years together until the Lord called him from labor to reward. Moreover, in the earlier years of his life journey, Bill was also married to the late Ms. Margaret Nance Mason. Three children were born during this union: Mia TaJuan (deceased), Yolanda Renee, and William Dewitt, Jr. Bill was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Mia Mason Davis.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory, his devoted wife, Carolyn Mason, his children, Yolanda Mason Henderson (Marcus), and William D. Mason, Jr. (Dawn). Grandchildren: Mikala Mason Jones, Patrick T. Davis, Jr., Keith Malik Jones, Marcus T. Henderson, Jr., William D. Mason III, Madison Mason Davis, Miles Theodore Mason (Destinee), Matthew Miles Davis, Brennon Lamar Howard Mason, Elijah Ezekiel Williams, and Jacob Josiah Williams. Great-grandchildren: Melanee Brynn Mason, Miles Theodore Mason II, and Maia Rae Mason. Sisters: Earlene Mason White, Joyce Mason Patton, and Juanita Mason.He also treasured the extended love of devoted great-nephew, Janson LaRay Armstrong, and great-niece, Larryn Ashley Owens. He also shared cherished bonds with his in-laws, including Ella Louise Batts, Myra Ann Wray, James Melvin Wray, and Yvonne L. Holt. He is lovingly remembered by a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
