Debra Kay Moore was born on September 3rd 1969, the youngest of 7 children to Ruby and Richard Moore, Sr. “Debbie Kay” as she was so affectionately called, departed this life on October 12, 2024 at Skyline Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janice E. Moore, brothers Howard “Allen” Moore and Hubert E. Moore. Debbie Kay accepted Christ at an early age. She attended public school in Nashville, TN and completed Adult Education Certification, receiving her G.E.D. Debbie was employed for 22 years as an officer at Woodland Hills Youth Detention Center in Nashville, TN and later in her career, was promoted to lieutenant. Some of the children there affectionately called her “Mama”. She was also beloved by her co-workers. Debra loved to cook, but one of her favorite past times, was the love and caring for her plants. She truly had a “green thumb” went it came to growing them. Debra leaves to cherish her memories, 3 children: Lamonia Merritt, Antonio Mooreand Tane’e Moore. After the passing of her sister Janice, Debbie Kay stepped up and became mother to her nephew Anthony “Shawn” Moore. Her 5 grandchildren were the joy of her life. They are: Michael Jordan, Mariyah Jordan, Keith Merritt, La’Faith Gary and Milan Macon-Jones. One Sister, Shirley (Larry) Boleyjack and 3 Brothers: Andrew, Mitchell, and Robbie Moore. One sister-in-law, Joyce E. Moore, from Huntsville, AL. And a very long-time devoted friend, Charles Ervin. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
