Edgar J. Utley, V.

Edgar James “EJ” Utley, V was born on January 12, 2006 in (Nashville, TN) to a devoted and loyal mother, Tracy Walls and father, Edgar James Utley, IV.
He has one brother, Ethan Jordan. He was baptized and accepted Christ in his life while serving as a member of St. John A.M.E. Church. He took pride in serving as a member of the Hillsboro High School Football Team, NPA National Football program and the NYBA Elite Travel Basketball Team.
He volunteered in the community and gave his time by participating in the “Room In the Inn” and feeding the homeless with his Mother and brother as well as collecting and donating clothes and tennis shoes for others.

EJ loved his family especially his Grandmother Charlotte and her delicious food. He was extremely proud and boasted about his little brother.
He passionately pursued his dreams of playing professional football. Actively, he trained with the NPA Football program, Hillsboro High School Varsity Football Team, and the Elite NYBA Travel Basketball Team. To know him was to love him, as he had an infectious smile, charming personality, witty conversation, and greeted you with a flirtatious grin, hug, or a kind gesture to lend a helping hand. He was adored and loved by all. His hobbies were talking on the phone, playing video games, training for football, socializing, cooking, and being with his family. He worked well with his hands and was gifted academically. He enjoyed athletic training all sports. His entire life was dedicated to loving his family and being the best student-athlete.

EJ departed this life on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Vanderbilt Hospital. Those left behind to cherish memories and trust GOD are his loyal and dedicated maternal Grandparents, Charlotte Phillips (Herbert); paternal Grandfather, Edgar James Utley, III; paternal great aunt Alissa Utley; maternal great Aunt, Annette Walls, maternal great Uncle, Billy Walls, Great Uncle Antione Utley, Cousins, Edward and Alicia Walls, Antwan and Terrance Vanlier; devoted mentor/uncles, Peyton Neugent, Jessie Agnew, Jimmy Upton. A host of cousins and close friends, coaches, mentors, and teachers. Special recognition to Coach David Keary and his unwavering commitment to EJ. Special thanks to Vanderbilt Hospital Staff, Hillsboro High School Football Staff and the West End Middle School Staff.
