Ella Bee Pittman was born October 10, 1936, in Dickson County. She was the oldest of seven children born to James Boyd and Altha Elizabeth Collier Boyd. She departed this life on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville Tennessee.

Ella Bee was raised in North Nashville and proudly attended the illustrious Pearl High School. To countless children in the neighborhood, she was known simply as Miss Bee, and to the entire community she was a cherished neighbor. She carried a gentle, nurturing spirit and poured that love into Miss B’s Daycare, where she cared for many little ones who have long since grown up, yet still found themselves stopping by just to visit her.

Ella Bee accepted Christ at an early age at Ephesian Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Elder R. A. Wright. She served under the late Dr. J. Lucious Fitzgerald. She was always proud to say that Elder Cornelius A. Hill was her pastor now. She cherished her role as the eldest tenured member of Ephesian Primitive Baptist Church.

Miss Bee served faithfully on the Ephesian Senior Usher Board until her health no longer allowed her to stand. For many years she held the office of President of the Usher Board, leading with grace and organizing numerous fundraisers that strengthened the ministry. She was also everyone’s beloved Beginner’s Sunday School Teacher.

Ella Bee planned countless youth retreats for Ephesian, and she lovingly cooked and served meals for the church family. She was a steadfast member who deeply loved God, her pastor and her church.

Sister Ella Bee’s service extended beyond Ephesian as she joyfully participated in the Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptists, the Tri-State Convention of Primitive Baptists, and the National Primitive Baptist Convention. She delighted in attending family reunions and traveling to National Conventions, embracing every opportunity for fellowship and connection.

Ella Bee was united in marriage to the late Roger Jane Pittman for many years, together they raised and loved their son, Kenneth Boyd, unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Boyd and Altha Elizabeth Collier Boyd, siblings, Eugene Boyd, James “Clyde” Boyd, Rose Marie Boyd, brothers in law, Preston “Pete” Pittman, C. L. Pittman, sister-in-law, Alice Marie Smith, nephew, Lamont Boyd, niece, Lisa Crosby and her dear friend, Larry Chaney.
