Eric Shermain Newbill, Sr.

Eric Shermain Newbill, Sr. was born on June 1, 1975 in McKenzie, Tennessee to Minister Renna McKnight and the late Ricky McKnight and Pastor Donald (Janice) Bobbitt. He was raised with love by his grandparents, Alonzo and Bobby Sue Newbill, Willie D. McKnight, and William McKnight.

Eric was educated in the Davidson County School System and graduated from Hunters Lane High School in 1993. After graduation, he continued his education at the Tennessee Technology Center in 1999, where he earned a degree in Auto Body and Collision Repair.

Eric accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and remained a faithful member of Roger Heights Baptist Church until his passing.

Eric was full of life and deeply loved his family. He had a generous spirit and was known for giving the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. Eric loved music, auto painting, comedy, and traveling, and he enjoyed making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him.

Eric was a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. His grandchildren lovingly called him “Pawpaw,” and he he took great pride in being part of their lives.

Early Monday morning, March 2, 2026, Eric humbly answered the call to enter into God’s eternal presence. He was preceded in death by his sister Precious McKnight; his father Ricky McKnight; and his grandparents.

Eric leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Tahisha Newbill; his daughter Me’Naja Newbill; his sons Eric Newbill Jr. and Michael Newbill; and his beloved grandchildren Miyah Newbill and Josiah Newbill.

He also leaves his brothers William McKnight (Quisha), Steven Bobbitt, and Scott Bobbitt; his sisters Candace McKnight, Donja Bobbitt Coy (Tom), and D’Ondra Siji (Marvin); his mother Rena McKnight; his father Donald Bobbitt (Janice); his mother-in-law Carolyn (Tyree) Chaney; his father-in-law Carl (Kelly) Graham; his best friend Ladonna Newbill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.

His love, laughter, and beautiful memories will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
