Fred Buie

Fred Buie Jr. age 76 went home to glory Monday, May 4, 2020, with his niece Carrie Wright by his side. He was born January 30, 1944, in Woodville, Mississippi, and was the second child born to Fred Buie Sr. and Carrie Buie. He attended Sadie V. Thompson High School in Natchez, Mississippi. He was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith. Over Fred’s lifetime, he lived in several cities before settling down in Nashville, Tennessee, where he lived for over 30 years. He retired from Vanderbilt University’s Horticulture Department in 2012, where he had worked for many years. Fred had a strong work ethic, was a protector of his family and was a very giving person. He had an infectious laugh, loved listening to music and was known for playing his harmonica. Fred is survived by his siblings Geraldine Edwards, Ruby Buie, Caluster Buie, Delois (Ron) Blevins, Dunk(Peggy) Buie, Gerald Buie and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Carrie Buie, son Fred “Dan” Hunt, siblings George Buie and Mary Buie, nephews and niece Orlando Buie, Thomas House and Carrie B. Buie. His family and friends will miss this beacon of strength! Graveside service to be held May 15, 2020, 11 am Greenwood Cemetery
