Hattie “Puddin” “Granny Puddin” Allen, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Born in Nashville, Tennessee on July 2, 1950, she was the cherished daughter of Pearlie and Leonard Allen, Sr., who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and faith that would guide her throughout her life.
Hattie received her education in the Nashville–Davidson County school system and was a proud Cameron High School Panther. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and, as an adult, continued her faith journey at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.
Hattie went on to build a career in masonry, working diligently until her retirement. Afterwards, she devoted her time to serving others as a caregiver. Throughout her life, she was known for her strength, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Affectionately known as “Puddin” to those who grew up alongside her and “Granny Puddin” to the generations she nurtured. Her warmth was immediate and genuine—whether through a wise word, or a simple smile that could ease even the heaviest hearts.
Hattie’s life was a testament to selflessness and strength. She dedicated herself to her family, serving as a pillar of support, a keeper of traditions, and a source of unconditional love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and passionately enjoyed playing cards (Tonk, Bid Whist, Spades) memories that will be treasured forever by all.
She was deeply rooted in her community, known for her spirited, strong-willed, never afraid to speak her mind and willingness to lend a helping hand. Hattie believed in lifting others up and lived that belief daily through her actions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlie (Freddie Dunlap) and Leonard “Son” Allen, Sr., grandparents, Hattie Allen Holt and Thomas (Annie) Bostic, sister Elaine Williams, brothers Larry “Buddy” Allen, Chris Allen, and Ted Dunlap.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Pamela Allen, Timothy Allen.
