Hazel Catherine Perry

d. August 23, 2022

Hazel Catherine Foster Perry entered eternal rest on August 23, 2022. She was born February 14, 1938 in Columbia, TN and was the youngest daughter to the late Dave and Nolan Katherine Foster.

Hazel loved God and dedicated her life to Him at an early age. She was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church and early on was a part of the church’s Sanctuary Choir.

She was educated through the Nashville public school system and graduated from Pearl High School. She continued her education earning a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee A&I State University now known as Tennessee State University.

Hazel met William “Bill” E. Perry when they were kids living in the same neighborhood. She ignored him when they were kids, but when he returned from military service that changed. They were blessed to be married for 59 years this year. To this union, God blessed them with a son, Taran Perry.

Hazel enjoyed her life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved her family deeply and her love for her two granddaughters, Tierra and Amber, was beyond measure.

Hazel was fun, kind, stylish and always well dressed, had a great sense of humor, traveled extensively and was always ready to travel, had watched every cowboy movie in existence or “western” as she called them, loved animals, flowers, and crocheted extremely well (she crafted and gave away several blankets). She was passionate about Pearl High and TSU alumni events and TSU football games.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anna L. Foster Etter and niece, Nolan W. Foster, affectionately called Lavon.

She leaves to cherish her memory husband, William “Bill” E. Perry; son, Taran (Marchelle) Perry; granddaughters, Tierra Perry, Dallas, TX, and Amber Perry; sisters, Clara Hendricks, Margaret Foster, Indianapolis, IN; nephew, Keith Allison, Louisville, KY; nieces, Angela (Vincent) Henderson, Granger, IN, Cathy Bolling, Indianapolis, IN, Renee Pratt, and Tracye (Cedric) Coleman, Brownsburg, IN; great niece, Danielle (James) Lewis; great nephews, Steven (Melissa) Henderson, Granger, IN, Brendon Henderson, St. Petersburg, FL, and David C. Bolling, Indianapolis, IN; a host of cousins, friends, and Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church family.
