Nashville

Hural L. Johnson, Jr. was born on November 6,1953 to the Late Hural Johnson, Sr. and Late Ruth Evelyn Johnson, in Nashville, Tennessee. He transitioned from labor to reward on March 28, 2024, with his beloved wife by his side.

Hural graduated from Cohn High School, class of 1973. He later received certification in welding from Yates Vocational Center. He utilized these skills for various employers, the latest being various departments in Metro Davidson County, where he worked for 21 years.

On February 25, 1978, Hural married the former Horronda Cheatham. They were blessed with two daughters, Heather and Hillary.

Hural was a man of faith and raised his family to do the same. He was truly committed to his family and the community. He was active and involved in many roles of the community, and all his children’s extracurricular activities.

Hural dedicated his life to mentoring young men and encouraging them to pursue welding as a career. He always took the opportunity to invest in all young people, offering his assistance, assurance and applause when and wherever needed. He believed and instilled in them that anything they wanted to do or become was possible.

In his pastime, Hural enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz. Some of his favorite artists included Earl Klugh, Spyro Gyra, The Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind & Fire. He loved to travel with family, particularly anywhere with water. He and Horronda, frequently, visited Panama City’s “30A.” He was a foodie and liked barbequing brisket. He was an amateur photographer.

Hural never met a stranger and befriended everyone. He was selfless, motivating, supportive, and loved by many. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, and father. He leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, beloved wife of 46 years, Horronda; two daughters, Heather (Wyatt) Cobb and Hillary (Winford) Jones; grandchildren, Deion Cobb, Terrance Blair, Devaun Cobb, Jamarien Blair, Zaliyah Cobb; great-grandchildren Tay’Mauri Richardson-Blair and awaiting the arrival of Tay’Loni Richardson-Blair.
