Jewell Harper

October 1, 1946 — February 22, 2018

Jewell Harper was born October 1, 1946 in Fayetteville, TN (Lincoln County). She was the 1st child born to the union of the late LC and Lela Henderson- Harper.

She peacefully departed from this life on Thursday morning February 22, 2018 at her residence in Fayetteville, TN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, William and Jenny Brooks- Henderson and Jake and Willie Palmer- Harper; her elder sister, Alberta Eddins; younger brother, Elmer D Harper and niece Wilma Louise Eddins.

Jewell was educated in the Lincoln County School System. She began her employment with Tyson Foods and Petersburg Manufacturing before retiring after 38 years of service as an Assembler with Goodman Manufacturing in Fayetteville, TN.

She began her Christian Journey with the Lord at an early age at Henderson Chapel CPC in Coldwater, TN under the late Rev. Felix Cross. She later united with the Neals Temple CPC in Fayetteville, TN before placing her membership with the West End CPC of America in Fayetteville, TN under the late Rev Louis Pickett; serving faithfully until her death.

Jewell was known for her Community Service throughout the community with her fundraising events for various charitable causes, including her participation with the People Helping People Annual Black History Program. She also was a devoted member of the Fayetteville Elks Club and the Tennessee Ball Fayetteville Chapter.

She was one of the fortunate ones in the family to inherit superb cooking skills from both her mother and father; especially known for her cheese balls, her assortment of fruit salads and her macaroni and cheese. She had a disdain for wrinkle clothing, taking pride in her remarkable ironing skills; at times taking on ironing for families in the community. She had an eye for fashion, with the ability to create a designer wardrobe shopping at bargain prices; a talent she inherited from her mother.

Although we love Jewell and it hurts us to see her lying in sweet rest; We as a family take comfort in knowing that she’s resting peacefully in the hands of an All-knowing, All-mighty God who loves her best.

Jewll leaves to cherish her precious memories two loving devoted daughters, Marcella Evette Love and Shamatra Shana’ Askins of Fayetteville, TN; one loving devoted son, Shevonta Se’hwan (Kianta) Love of Fayetteville, TN; two loving grandchildren, A’Myiha Nevaeh Hicks of Fayetteville, TN, and Braylon Roshaun (Kimberly) Leslie of Shelbyville, TN; beloved great-grandchildren, Teondre’ Dupre Love of Fayetteville, TN, Elijah Jamal Fugua, Malaya Nashae Leslie, Jordan Taeshaun and Janiah Tvonne Leslie of Shelbyville, TN; 4 loving step- grandchildren, Kionda and Tillvante Landers of Fayetteville, TN, and Jamiah Murray and Jasmine Weston of Shelbyville, TN; a loving and devoted brother, Robert C ( Karolyn) Harper of Howell, TN; an aunt Rachel Harper of Shelbyville, TN; special nephew and niece, Kosce Harper and Kennadi Harper of Fayetteville, TN; goddaughter, Evette Randolph of Pulaski, TN; devoted and special friends, Mrs. Virginia Fletcher, Ms. Lisa Cargile, Ms. Fanda Henderson, Mrs. Ruby Holt Williams & Family, and Mr. & Mrs. David and Joyce Buchana; and a host of other loving and devoted nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends, and Rev. and Mrs. Dezi Fletcher and her West End CPC family.
