Joe Nickerson

Joe Lewis Nickerson was born in Alabama on August 9, 1936, to Minnie Moore and George Nickerson.

He was educated at Tuskegee University in Alabama. He joined the United States Army in 1960 and retired in 1996. Joe was an Educator for several years in the New York School system.

Joe gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Livingstone Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Trustee. Later he joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. While attending, he severed in many capacities.

He leaves to cherish his memory, loving and devoted wife Abrie Pillow – Nickerson; daughters Savitri Pillow- Hayes, Debbie Nickerson, and Karen Pillow; sons Frank C. Pillow, Jr., Ricky Bynum, Micheal Nickerson, Wilvann Pillow, and Steven Pillow; numerous nieces and nephews; 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; devoted friends Donnie Collins, Doris Copenny, Ida Dean - Isom, Jocelyn Nedd, Comfort Banful, Eloise Battle and many more.
