It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Chege Gitau, who left us on October 12th 2024 at the age of 59. John was a beloved husband to Rosemary Wangare Chege and a devoted father to David Kahuha Chege and Alex Ndungu Chege.
John had an exemplary career and held significant roles at Coopers and Lybrand, Caltex Oil in Kenya before relocating to the US in the year 2000. While in the US, he worked with Qwest Cyber Solutions, and several SAP partners, including Deloitte Services and Tata Consulting Services. He transitioned to a self-employed consultant in 2021 until his passing.
He was very active in uplifting and dealing with the social welfare issues of the Kenya Diaspora in middle Tennessee and was the founding president of the Kenya Association of Middle Tennessee.
John was a pillar of strength and support to his family, and a delight to everyone who knew him. He was a selfless man who went through his life helping others. He was chivalrous and a true gentleman. One of the qualities that defined John was his unwavering kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping others.
There will be a viewing on Friday, October 18th from 2-2.55 pm and a memorial service from 3-5 pm at the Christ Lutheran Church, 299 Haywood Lane Nashville, TN 37211.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is leaving behind a legacy of generosity, wisdom, and resilience. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
