On November 7, 2024, Almighty God called our dearly beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Jonathan Marcel Kellar, home.
Jonathan Marcel Kellar was born on February 14, 1987, in Nashville, Tennessee to Mary Elizabeth Watts Kellar and Gary Marcel Kellar. Because of the adoring love of our first born he was named Jonathan, which means “beloved”.
Jonathan actually “began” his education at the University of Tennessee College of Law where he would often accompany his dad to class. Jonathan’s formal education started in the public school system of Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. He attended Aiken Elementary School. Jonathan’s intellect was evident at an early age. Jonathan was reading books at age 2 1/2. He learned how to read by watching Sesame Street. His parents would spell words out in front of him, not knowing at the time that he could read. Jonathan was later identified as a gifted learner. He went on to matriculate at Martin Luther King Middle School and Martin Luther King High School. In Middle and High School, he participated in concert band and the wrestling program. After graduation from Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in 2005, he attended Morehouse College.
He began his employment in the hospitality industry as a server and went on to become “your favorite bartender”. Jonathan was a diligent worker and held numerous jobs in his lifetime. He delighted in his job as a bartender because he got a chance to interact with people from all walks of life.
At the age of six Jonathan was baptized at Antioch Missionary Church by his grandfather, The Reverend Marcel Kellar. Jonathan was an integral part of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he participated in numerous Sunday school and the youth choir and usher ministry, plays and skits.
Jonathan’s personality was extremely kind, gentle and loving. He was always one to make people feel at ease and welcome. Jonathan loved to laugh and dance. He is remembered by his hardy laugh and gigantic smile. He absolutely loved being with his friends and just hanging out with them.
