Lindell Loumetrice Hudson Fletcher

February 20, 1950 — February 8, 2024

Nashville

Lindell Loumetrice (Hudson) Fletcher was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on   February 20, 1950 to the late Mattie Lou and Herman Hudson. She was affectionally known as ‘Lin’ or ‘Ms. Lin’. She transitioned peacefully at 73 years old on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in Nashville, TN.  At an early age, she gave her life to God as was custom in the household she grew up in.

She graduated in 1968 from Lovejoy High School in Brooklyn, Il.  While a student at Lovejoy, Lin met and later married the late Mr. Bruce Fletcher. Their union produced two sons: Brandon and Bertrand Fletcher. Around 1981, she moved to Nashville to be closer to her mother and siblings, where she then gave birth to another son, Linden Bradford (Lester Bradford) in July of that year. She loved her sons very much. Her sons Brandon and Bertrand spent many summers in Nashville spending time with her and their new little brother.

Lindell explored several career fields. In the mid-1980s she worked for News Channel 5 here in Nashville. She also spent time bartending at her favorite hangout spots.  For a short period of time, she moved back to Illinois and worked for the Edwardsville, IL school bus system.  She found her passion for childcare later in life. In pursuit of that passion, she went to Nashville State Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. After completing her studies, she was able to obtain a position at the 18th Avenue Family Enrichment Center where she remained for the duration of her career. Everyone who set foot in the center knew and loved ‘Ms. Lin.’

Lindell was a very strong and resilient woman. During her time in Nashville, she went through a long period of trials and tribulations that most people do not bounce back from. But not Lin! With the help of family, she not only bounced back, but she also began to flourish more than ever.  Once the bounce back was complete, Lin dedicated her life to taking care of other’s kids and being a Lifeline/Beacon of Hope for many she came across.

Lin loved to cook, and everyone loved her food, often seeking her advice on how to cook something.   Some of her most coveted dishes included stuffed cabbage, potato salad, homemade Chinese food and hot tamales Her love came out in her food and how she treated others.  She was a bright spirit who loved to smile and have a good time.   She also loved her music, with Prince being her favorite artist.

Lin was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Lou Hudson and Herman Hudson; brothers, Herman “Boss” Hudson, Earl “Pretty Boy” Hudson, and George “Darryl” Hudson; sister, Melanie Hudson; son, Bertrand Fletcher; and Aunt Mable; dearest friends, Vanessa Garth and Jennifer (Deucy) Harris-Hilton.  She leaves several people to carry her legacy sister Rosalind Locke (Samuel); sister-in-law, Janice Hudson (Herman); sons Brandon Fletcher and Linden “Zo” Bradford (Sydnee);  spiritual son, Rafael Garcia (Rena); grandchildren, Armon Fletcher, Aniyah Fletcher and MiLynn Bradford;  nephews and nieces Steven Hudson (Bridget); Antwan Hudson (Larika); Terri Hudson; Charles Brooks, Jr (Shalynn); Samuel Locke, III (Tabitha); Chanyah Locke and Danielle Locke; cousins, Myra (Rochetta) Roper; Joan Walker (Winston); Mozelle Smith (John); Michelle Gibson; Charlotte and Vicki Hurt; dearest friends, Lillian Slaughter Lewis, Melba Boyd, Linda Sue Beckett, and Diana Darrington-Lea  with a host of other close friends, great-nieces and nephews and relatives.
