Macie Elaine Pope Pryor

December 24, 1951 — August 11, 2020

Macie Elaine Pope Pryor was born December 24, 1951, in Nashville Tennessee. She was the seventh of eight children born to the union of Hammond Eugene and Eva Mai Kellum Pope. She entered into rest on August 11, 2020 at Alive Hospice.

Macie accepted Christ at an early age and united with Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. She is a graduate of Pearl High School and Tennessee State University. She was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church. She was dedicated to community service and spent many years as an advisor for the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs (NACWC) Youth Clubs and Nashville Alumni Chapter of Tennessee State University.

Macie was united in Holy Matrimony to David Dewayne Pryor and they were happily married for 45 years. She was proud to serve the students of her alma mater by working in the mail room. She loved attending TSU Football games and was a proud supporter of the Aristocrat of Bands. Also a Lil Tiger cheerleader team Mom. In her spare time she loved displaying her creative talents through her arts and crafts.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving husband David Dewayne Pryor; her children, Dwight Nathaniel Pope and Precious Pryor Shields (Curvie); three grandchildren, Kamari, Khamylle and Curvie Jr.; brothers, Leonard Maurice Pope (Arnita) and Aaron Nathaniel Pope; sisters Emily Vernell Sanderfur (Ben) and Lillie Brenda Pope; sisters in law, Brigette Pope and Lannie Brown, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lewis & Wright Funeral Directors in honor of Macie Elaine Pope Pryor at (615) 255-2371.
