Mary G. Ray

Mary (Dora) Gardner Ray 95, transitioned to be with the Lord August 24, 2020 at Green Hills Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. She was born January 1, 1925 to the late Willie and
Leola Gardner of Toney Alabama and attended the public school system of Madison County, Alabama. The eldest of 11 children, she will be remembered for her leadership, loving and caring
disposition. She entered into holy matrimony with Richard Moore, Senior. Out of that union Joyce, deceased and Richard, Junior were born.
In 1952 she married Edward L. Ray, the love of her life. He preceded her in death. Edward and Mary were faithful, and devout Christian. Mary continued her membership with
Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church for well over 60 years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. She valued religion, family, education, and work. Mary loved serving the Lord, caring for family, and helping others. She took pride in preparing dinners as a member of the hospitality and usher board committees. Also, she enjoyed reading the Bible and newspaper, cooking, traveling and fishing. Mary leaves to cherish her memories, Richard and Martha Moore, son and daughter in law, Raleigh, NC., Billy Lyons, son in law, Radcliff, Ky., Dianne and Bufford Thompson, sister and brother in law, Huntsville Ala., Ruth Gardner, sister, Toney Ala., Freemont Thomas, brother in law, Matthews, SC. Grand children: Richard Levine Moore, Nashville, Tn., Shevene Bryant, Mebane, NC., Tanya Moore, Durham, NC., Markita Gilbert, Alexandria, Va., Akella Lyons, Radcliff, Ky., Shanika Marnell, Louiseville, Ky., Donald Ray, Nashville, Tn., James Jenkins Jr., Nashville, Tn. (deceased) Nine great grandchildren. Lewis and Wright Funeral Directors Viewing is schedule Tuesday, September 1, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Graveside service Wednesday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m.at Nashville National Veterans Cemetery, Madison, TN.
