Maurice Donaldson, affectionately known as “Reedy,” passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at the age of 73, with close family by his side.

Born on August 12 in Nashville, Tennessee, Maurice lived a life defined by faith, family, and community. He accepted Christ at an early age at First Street Missionary Baptist Church on Montgomery. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Sr. and Virgie Donaldson; his brother, Joe “Herman” Donaldson Jr.; and his niece, Patricia Elaine Donaldson.

Though he held various jobs throughout his life, Maurice took great pride in his role as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his warmth, generosity, and willingness to help others, always ready to share a laugh and his wisdom.

Maurice enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including watching football and basketball with his brothers over the phone, spending time at family gatherings, listening to old-school music, and relaxing outdoors with Mr. Bubba on the swing. A proud graduate of Pearl High School, he was also a familiar and respected presence in the Hadley Park Towers community, where he formed many lasting friendships.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Angela Johnson; sister, Brenda Donaldson; brothers Phillip (Ramona) and John Donaldson, and sister-in-law, Katrina Valentine Donaldson; grandchildren, Jalea Johnson, Michael Sykes, and Mishayla Sykes; great-grandchildren, Michael Sykes Jr., Kimmora Sykes, and Garrion Blacksmith; nieces, Dawn (James) Reese, Quianna (Troy) Hambrick, and Onyx Donaldson; nephews, Tyrone Robinson, Colby, Christopher (Maxine), Kenneth, Phillip (Crystal), Robert, and Virgil Maurice Donaldson; special friends, Shelia Dutches Williams, Joyce ‘Puttin’ Campbell, and James Horner, along with extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Maurice’s legacy lives on through the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the many memories cherished by those who knew him.
