Maxine June Walker Giddings

Passed away March 31, 2014, having been born on April 2, 1940, and is survived by her husband, three children, four grandchildren and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr.; her mother, Mrs. Alice Walker and her sister, Dr. Charlotte Walker.
Mrs. Giddings, born and raised in Nashville, was one of the original 1960 local sit-in participants and among the first to be arrested; a lifelong servant of the underserved through various projects and initiatives; an innovator in computer technology instruction at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio where she won numerous awards for her novel ideas; president of her Cleveland Heights potters' group, and creator and webmaster of their webpage; editor and publisher of the Nashville Civil Rights Veterans Association newsletter; and an examination-certified judge during general and primary elections in Ohio for 2008.
Family visitation will take place at Clark Memorial United Methodist Church, 1014 - 14th Ave. No., Nashville, TN 37208; (615) 329-4464, on April 11th at 11 a.m., funeral service follows at 12 p.m. Interment after service at Greenwood Cemetery.
