Michael Anthony Whitmon

Michael Anthony Whitmon transitioned from this life on September 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. Born on September 3, 1951, he was the cherished son of the late Dorothy Mae “Dot” Mallory Whitmon and Samuel Raymond “Coach Whit” Whitmon. He was also preceded in death by Katherine T. Whitmon and Francine Rose Whitmon. Michael received his early education at St. Vincent De Paul and Father Ryan High School, later graduating from Pearl High School 1969. He continued his academic journey at Fisk University Class of 1973 and American Baptist College, earning degrees from both institutions. While attending Fisk University, Michael became a proud member of the Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Spring 72, a brotherhood that remained meaningful to him throughout his life.

Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to Margaritte Whitmon, and to this union two children were born. He was a dedicated employee of Ford Motor Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. Known for his warm spirit and unwavering loyalty, Michael was an avid card and domino player, a passionate fisherman, and a faithful friend, cousin, and uncle to many.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted family: His children, Marques Raymond Whitmon, and Marvin Durrell (Danielle Evette) Whitmon. His devoted sisters—Jennifer Ann (Terry Lee) Smith, Patsey Yvette (Larry) Thomas, and Penne Yvonne (Lewis) Leeper. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Quiana Bass, Marques Whitmon II, Kayne Whitmon, Marquala Whitmon, Marques Whitmon III, Aubrey Ward, Micah Brendan Whitmon, Mason Alexander Whitmon, and Marvin Durrell Whitmon Jr. Michael also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous devoted friends who will forever remember his kindness, humor, and steadfast presence.
