Mother Geraldine Greer

June 11, 1946 — August 21, 2021

Mother Geraldine Greer (Blackman), affectionately called “Gelene” by her three sons, and “Mother Greer” by all others. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Nashville, Tennessee at Centennial Medical Center.

Mother Greer has been a faithful member of Rose of Sharon Primitive Baptist Church for over 40 years. She served on the Mothers Board, and attended Worship Services regularly even as her health declined. Mother loved her former pastor, Elder Jerome Tucker, the First Lady, and their children. Mother Greer attended St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church along with the Rose of Sharon Church Family while waiting for the two churches to merge. She loved Pastor James Duke and his teaching. She was eagerly preparing for August 27, 2021; when she could call St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church, her Church Home.

Geraldine loved her family dearly. She was the mother figure to everyone. She had a beautiful smile, a humble heart, and a giving spirit, she would help anyone. Her Christian life was as beautiful as a flower that was planted in fertile soil.

Mother Geraldine Greer is survived by her three loving and devoted sons, Minister Ronald (Carolyn) French; Deacon Jerry (Beverly) French; and Pastor James N. French III; devoted siblings, one brother, Elder Carl (Annie) Blackman Sr.; sisters, Minister Mildred Osteen Bledsoe; and Carolyn (Joseph) Crutcher; Sister-In-Law, Betty Blackman, Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chassiti French, Kourtney French, Justin French, Brittany French, Faith French, Lexi Pendergrass, and Sherrell Batey; devoted nieces and nephews, Tamica Crutcher, Angie Osteen (Nate) Aldridge, Carla Blackman, and Jewell (Damon) Kinzer; Jeffrey and Carlos Williamson, Terence and Kevin Osteen, Jerry ( Andrea) Blackman, Jr., and Mickle (Demetria) Blackman; great nephew (my boy as she would say) Little Nate; devoted former brother-in-law, Elvis T. (Gwen) Williamson, Jr.; a host of other relatives, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
