Mrs. Nancy Mae (Olds) Moss, age 96 transitioned on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Nancy Mae “Jane” Olds Moss was born on January 27, 1930 to Lourean Olds in Aymett Town-Pulaski, Tennessee. Raised in Pulaski, TN, she attended Powell Chapel School. She began her faithful journey in Christ at Powell Chapel A.M.E. Church in Pulaski, TN, and at a young age was baptized in a creek near Powell Chapel.
She moved to Nashville, TN where she attended and graduated from Pearl High School in 1949. While in Nashville she maintained a close group of friends who founded The Queen of Hearts Social Club.
She was united in matrimony to Lawrence Wilson Moss. Her children include Larry Moss Jr. and Lurelia Ann Moss, and William Jacob Hockett. She loved her family and spent most of her time surrounded by her extended family.
She was an earnest worker whose jobs included the Fisk University Food Services (Snack Bar), Ford Motor Company, independent domestic work, Nashville Trunk & Bag, and many others. In her retirement, she worked at Kroger. She had a servant’s heart-dedicating her life to serving her community.
She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) Prince Hall Affliated. She was a member of Golden Star Chapter #74 where she served as Worthy Matron, Past Deputy of the Nashville District, and was named Honorary Grand Worthy Matron of Excelsior Grand Chapter. She loved her organization and served as a mentor and was dutiful as long as her mobility allowed.
She was a lifelong member of Meharry Boulevard Church of God, Sanctified where she served as a member of the Usher Board, the Mothers’ Board, and the Quilting Club. Her walk with Christ was faithful and her love of the Lord shone through all that she did.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Lourean Olds Rucker, stepfather, Jeff Rucker (Big Daddy); beloved son, William Jacob Hockett; sister, Mary Elise Cromwell; aunts and uncles, Agnes Olds Thurmond, Hattie Mae Johnson, Millie Olds Braden, Paris Olds, Henry Olds, Elder Walker William Olds; beloved cousins, Mary Will Primm, Margaret Huff; and lifelong friends, Helen Hebb, Emma McNairy, and Frankie Lou Rucker.
She is survived by her children, Larry Moss Jr. (Nashville, TN) and Lurelia Ann Moss Hardy (Augusta, GA); grandchildren, William Jacob Hockett II (Nashville, TN), Mora Lourean Hardy (Augusta, GA), and Courtney Nicole Hockett; sister, Florene Pamplin (Pulaski, TN); beloved cousins, Willie Primm (Cleveland OH), Eli Olds (Nashville, TN), Bobby Olds (Owens) (Pulaski, TN), Theresa Olds (Pulaski, TN), Louise Alexander (Salt Lake City, UT), Marie Duncan (Nashville, TN), Sheila Martin (Seattle, WA), Ella Mae Mason (Hermitage, TN), The Rucker Family of Nashville, TN and numerous extended family members. She also leaves behind friendships formed in Augusta, GA by way of Greater Mt. Canaan Missionary Church and members of the community.
Her life was a benediction. She not only was blessed but spent her life being a blessing to others. Her love and dedication will never be forgotten.
