Mrs. Willie Cartwright

August 30, 1927 — July 16, 2023

Willie Lee (PUCK) was born August 30, 1927 in Brighton, TN. Number seven of twelve children born to Will and Ida Lee Boddie Dye. The first girl in a family of six boys; her father called her his little “Puckaluck” an endearing nickname that everyone called her to this day. Raised in the Methodist Church, she sang in the choir at Oakland United Methodist and Beech Chapel Methodist. She also sang in a group with her three sisters. Puck married Jim Andrew Cartwright February 12, 1946.


She later joined Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Mason, TN and remained an active member from the 1960’s serving on the Mother’s Board. Named Mother of the year in 2004. Moving to Nashville, TN in 2004, she then joined Temple Baptist Church and remained active until health problems prevented her attending in person. She enjoyed watching Sunday services on Facebook.


She loved spending time with family, cooking, quilting and having everyone over to enjoy cards. She became a beloved member of the Hartman Park Card Players.


She leaves to cherish her memories her two loving children, daughter Ida Dye Gardner; son David M. Cartwright. Four grandchildren; Amber Pullen (Keiland) Aurora, IL; Adrian Gardner Nashville, TN; Athena Cartwright Memphis, TN; Brian Cartwright Memphis, TN: 3 great granddaughters, Alyssa Pullen, Keirra Pullen, and Kennedy Ward, Sister Martha Dye Franklin, sister-in-law Bettie Ann Dye, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
