Nathaniel Brown, affectionately known as “Peter,” was born on September 30, 1945, to the late Effie Early and Nathaniel Barnett. He peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to eternity on January 1, 2026.

Peter was the eldest of his siblings and a steadfast presence for his family. He was preceded in death by his wives, Princella Brown and Onnia (Gayle) Brown; his sons, Oscar Berry and Nathaniel Sherrod Brown; his sister, Sandra Brown; and his brothers, James Brown and Nathan Barnett

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and outdoorsman, Peter loved fishing and hunting alongside family and friends. He passed down his passion for fishing to his grandson and great-grandson, joining them at every opportunity until his health no longer allowed him to walk long distances.

Peter accepted Christ and faithfully served as a deacon at Greater Covenant Baptist Church, where his commitment and quiet strength were a blessing to many.

He leaves to cherish in his memory his children: sons Reginald (Aletha) Brown and Peter (Kenyatta) Brown; daughters Darlene (Curtis) Berry and Tonia (James) Laster. His grandchildren: grandsons Oscar Reed, Malcolm Brown, James Laster, Joshua Laster, Peter Brown, Jr., Reginald Brown, Jr., and Reginald Brown III; granddaughters Antonia (Roderick) McDaniel, Clarissa Brown, Regina Brown, Raven Brown, Regga’na Brown, and Reonna Brown. His sisters Patricia Brown and Constance (Dimple) Plantt; nephews Howard (Donny) Lea and Walter Brown; his devoted friend Gloria Carter; and a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Peter’s legacy is one of faith, family, and the simple joy of the outdoors. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
