On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Ricky Davidson was beckoned from this earth to joyfully transition into the arms of Jesus, his Savior and Lord. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Beula Mai (Jones) Davidson, and son Robert Derrick Davidson.
Rick, as he was affectionately called, was born on November 6, 1951 in Nashville, Tennessee and was the younger of two siblings. Always a good student, he attended Pearl High School. Upon completion of secondary studies, Rick matriculated through Liberty University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration – Finance.
As a life-long learner, Rick actively sought opportunities for academic enrichment to develop his skills, gifts, and talents for the evolution of a stellar career in the banking industry. The culmination of his rigorous academic pursuits was awarded with earned degrees and certifications from several institutions and programs including: American Bankers Association, Tennessee School of Banking, Tennessee Graduate School of Banking, State University of New York, Commercial School of Banking at the University of Oklahoma, and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
Rick’s love of banking began right after high school while working as a porter at the Third National Bank in Nashville. In just a short span of time, Rick’s career in banking exceled as he was the sixth (6th) President of Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Company at age 39. Rick later became the Owner and President of Creditors Adjustment Bureau before eventually changing paths and joining the United Methodist Publishing House where he worked for fifteen years until his retirement.
With all his accomplishments, Rick was first and foremost a family man. Rick and his wife Izola were inseparable and true soul mates. They had two children and together enjoyed a wonderful life partnership of lasting endurance. Rick graced this world with what seemed to be an effortless ability to leave things better than how he found them. Showing kindness, compassion, and love are not areas where he ever fell short. Rick was always willing to grant favors and make concessions for those in need. His life was one that lived out his strong faith and belief in God.
Rick leaves to celebrate his life, legacy, and memory, loving wife, Izola, devoted daughter Sandra. He also leaves cherished siblings, sister, Alice Smith, brother, Charles Jones, along with a host of other family members and friends.
A walk-thru visitation will convene on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Lewis and Wright Funeral Home.
