Ronald (Ronnie) Crockett Jr. was born on January 17, 1968 to Mary Jane (Transley) Crockett and Ronald Crockett, Sr. He attended Nashville Public Schools where he excelled in athletics. He was a member of the football and track and field teams at East High School where he won numerous awards and recognitions, including a state title in shot put. Due to his outstanding athletic abilities, Ronnie was awarded a scholarship to attend Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
Ronnie was a gentle giant with a beautiful smile and infectious laugh. He brightened any place he entered and never forgot to call or texts a greeting to his family and loved ones on every holiday. He loved watching football with his brother, cousins and friends. He transitioned on May 14, 2025 at Summit Medical Center, surrounded by his loving daughter JaKymberlie Barnes, his brother, Christopher Crockett and sister-in-love Arenthia “Cocoa” Burkeen. He was an active member of Olivet Baptist Church, Nashville, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and Bible study.
During his years of employment, Ronnie worked for various manufacturing companies including Berry Plastics, Cerqa in LaVergne, TN and DSC Logistics, Lebanon, TN where his disability forced his retirement.
Ronald is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jacqueline M. (Jackson) Transley and William I. Transley Sr., and Martha and Clay Crockett, brother, Justin Alan Green and uncles, James and Styne Crockett.
Along with his parents and daughter JaKymberlie, he leaves to cherish his memory, his son Zane Crockett, brother, Christopher Crockett and sister, Sameka Crockett, step sister, Lakisha Green and step brother, John Lucius Green III. Granddaughters, Jayda and Kylie Barnes, sister-in-love, Arenthia “Cocoa” Burkeen, aunts, Lisa (James) Hester, Edna Mitchell, Evelyn and Doritha Crockett.
Uncles, William (Wanda) Transley Jr., Michael Transley Sr., Charles (Eriko) Transley Sr. and
Nathaniel Crockett. Devoted cousins, Lucian Transley, Rodriquez Miller and Jamon Hester. His former wives Mary Crockett (Zane’s mother) and Shekita Crockett. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Two great nieces and the late Samuel Hambrick, Yvonda “Ladybug” and Hambrick family. Best friend Jason Key.
