Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Norfleet, Sr., age 72, was granted his Angel Wings late on the morning of August 14th, 2020.
Ronnie was born on August 16th, 1947, in Hopkinsville, KY, as the youngest of 5 children to Clyde and Dora Norfleet. His family later moved to Nashville, TN, where, in 1965, Ronnie graduated from Pearl High School as an outstanding football player.
On April 14th, 1984, Ronnie married the love of his life, Harriett “Cookie” (Driver) Norfleet in the Centennial Park gardens in Nashville, TN. For over 40 years, they lived happily in Nashville raising their children Veleria, Ron Jr, Shelley, and Tiffany. As a testament to their devotion, you rarely saw one without the other.
Ronnie’s life was full and adventurous. He confessed and accepted Jesus Christ early in his life and was a member of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Known by many at the time as “The Breadman”, Ronnie retired after 30 years as a Sunbeam Bread salesman, and then enjoyed working for several additional years with Central Parking at the BNA Airport until his subsequent retirement.
In his spare time, Ronnie most enjoyed working puzzles and was known by some as “the puzzle man”. He also liked listening to music, watching movies and bowling. Ronnie especially loved spending time with family and traveling with friends. His travels took him across the country to California where he fondly remembered visiting with his sister Carolyn and family, as well as to Washington, D.C. to visit with his daughter Shelley. On many other occasions, he enjoyed road trips with his best friends Mike and Deborah. Ronnie will best be remembered by his comical, kind-hearted and loving spirit.
Ronnie was preceded in death by father, Clyde Norfleet, Sr., mother, Dora Norfleet, brother Clyde Norfleet, Jr., and best friend Rev. Theodore Dunn.
Survived by devoted wife Harriett “Cookie” Norfleet; sister Carolyn Norfleet Fisher; brother-in-law Kevin Chambers; children Veleria East, Ronald Norfleet, Jr., Shelley Norfleet, and Tiffany Norfleet; grandchildren John Drake, Jr., LouQuetta Drake, and Willow Norfleet; nieces Anyika Sholes and Michelle “Toni” Whitney; nephews Darnell Norfleet and Clyde “Champ” Norfleet III; great-niece Arolynn Sholes; great-nephew Anthony Winston, Jr.; best friends Michael and Deborah Beddingfield, Patricia Wilson, Reginald and Meredith Freeman; and a host of great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and close friends.
