Rose Mary Nation

September 17, 1948 — February 17, 2021

Mrs. Rose Mary (Henry) Nation departed this life on February 17, 2021. Suddenly, she closed her eyes and peacefully went home to be with the Lord. Rose Mary will be remembered as an outgoing, charismatic woman who loved God and never met a stranger. Rose Mary was born on September 17, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Walter & Mary (Langley) Henry. She married the love of her life; and the man who never left her side, Nathaniel Nation, on May 5, 1973.

Rose Mary attended Metro Public Schools in Nashville, Tennessee. Rose Mary always had a big beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and conversations that weren’t always prepared for. Rosemary was a straight shooter but still came from a place of love. Her love for friends and family spread beyond those in her household. She is regarded fondly as one who would open her doors for those in need for sometimes lengthy stays, gave her last, and would feed a community if she could and not expect anything in return because of her love for cooking.

Rose Mary’s career spanned over many years. She retired from the State of Tennessee, Department of Children Services; before that, she worked for Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute. Her career in itself shows her love for people and her compassion for helping others.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age. Rose Mary was a member of St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church until her death. She often expressed how God had been good to her even when she was not in the best health.

Proceeded in her death is her brother Walter Langley; her devoted friends, Birdie Mae Edwards and Bettie Ann (Battle) Alexander.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Nathaniel Nation; four children, Ralph (Kimberly) Henry, Janice Henry, Roslyn Henry, and Nakita Nation; nine grandchildren, Torey (Tameeka) Henry, Phylicia Henry, Karita Henry, Kiara Henry, Triston Henry, Demonte’ Hunter, Ro’Niya Henry, Marcus Edwards, Jr., William Nelson, Jr., and coming soon, Gary Rowe, Jr., 11 great-grandchildren; devoted friend, Anita (Earline) Blair; a host of nieces and nephews.

Public Walk Through will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Lewis & Wright Funeral Directors.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church, 1004 Dickerson Pike, Goodlettsville, TN 37072, with visitation held from 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m.
