October 29, 1949 — March 8, 2024

Nashville

A Time of Birth

On October the 29th 1949 Tupreme “Betty” Boone was born to the parents of the late Elder Roy and Deaconess Willie Boone.  She was the 11th child of 15 children.

 A Time to Grow

Tupreme graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami, Florida.  After graduating from high school, she attended Miami Dade College. She decided to relocate to Washington DC where she spent several years working as a healthcare worker.  While in Washington, Tupreme met and fell in love with Vaugh Downing, and from that union, William “Corey” Downing was born.  Soon after Corey’s birth, a better opportunity in Atlanta became available, which she decided to accept and relocate.

A Time to Love

After living and working in Atlanta for several years she met the love of her life, Alonzo “Al” Murphy. They married and from that union, a child was born, Sara Murphy. They had been married for 38 years.

A Time to Serve

Tupreme dedicated her life to Christ at an early age under the leadership of Elder Roy Boone Sr. She was a faithful member of the Church of God in Christ. During her marriage to Al Murphy, she later became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop Joseph Walker III. Tupreme served as the Superintendent of Sunday School and was later ordained as a Minister. She served her church and community up until her health failed. She was devoted to the Word of God and studied his Word until her final days.  Despite her failing health, Tupreme remained grounded in her beliefs.  She never doubted or gave up on the Lord and always remained a faithful servant.

A Time to Remember

Tupreme enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was never afraid to speak her mind on difficult topics or express her opinion. She would tell it like it is and not care about others' opinions.  She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, decorating, and crafting.

On March 8, 2024, the Lord decided to grant Tupreme her well-deserved rest. Preceding her in death are her parents Elder Roy and Deaconess Willie Boone; sisters Willia Maude Carter, Ruby Mack; Inez Almond; Rosa Milliner; and two brothers Roy Boone Jr and Robert Boone. She lives behind her two daughters Sara Murphy of Nashville, TN, Pamela (Keith) Hill of Chicago, Illinois, and one son Corey Downing of Orange County, California; two grandsons, Milian A. Hill and Kenneth R Vinston III, and one granddaughter, Maya A Hill. Tupreme also leaves behind three sisters Francis Gray of Raleigh, North Carolina, Gwendolyn (Quinton) Larkins of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sheva Boone of Gainsville, Florida, Five brothers, LeRoy (Shirley) Boone of Fisher, Indiana, John (Frances) Boone of Miami Gardens, Florida, Daniel (Renee) Boone of Miramar, Florida,  Ricky (Runell) Boone of  Waldorf, Maryland, and Samuel Boone of Clermont, Florida. She also leaves a host of niece’s nephews and friends. Special thanks to her friends, Geneva Williams, Dot Booker, and Carolyn Holt, and to the staff of Good Samaritan, words cannot express our gratitude for the love and care you gave to Tupreme Murphy.
