Nashville

William Bernard Douglas, affectionately known as FUZZ, was called home to be with our Lord on June 4, 2024, at Alive Hospice here in Nashville, Tennessee.

William, the fourth child of five siblings was born on June 22, 1933, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Shellie Martin and Mansfield Douglas, II.  He is preceded in death by three siblings: Sisters, Jewel Stripling, Mattie Stevenson, Brother, Mansfield Douglas, III.   He was also preceded in death by nephew, Larry Douglas, sisters-in-law, Barbara Douglas, Mary Palmer, and brother-in law, Joe Stevenson.

He attended Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and was drafted into the Navy where he served for 5 years.

William accepted Christ at an early age and joined Clark Memorial United Methodist Church in 1948. He was a faithful member until his failed health. He served as an Offertory Steward, team member of the Transportation Ministry, supporter of the United Methodist Men and served on the Board of Trustees as the Project Manager for the installation of the elevator under the leadership of Rev. Kennard Murray.

He was an employee of ICF Builders and Consultants for many years under the tutelage of Roger Ligon until retirement. He mentored Roger Ligon, Jr, Randall Ligon and other apprentices that shared the same work ethic. He was admired and respected by many.

He was an avid football enthusiast and a fan of the Titans.

He married the love of his life, Queen Mills in 1968, who positively affected the quality of his life when they were together.   He was a family-oriented devoted man who enjoyed family reunions and who prioritized his family's needs before his own, especially when it came to making important decisions.

William leaves us with heavy hearts and will be sorely missed.  He will be remembered with love and compassion by devoted wife of 56 years, caretaker of 7 years, Queen E. Douglas; sister, Letha (Robert) Lee; son, Daniel B.
